Meeting with the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce & Industries – 14th May 2024


The delegation of the Sri Lanka – Maldives Business Council (SLMLBC) had the privilege of meeting with representatives from the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce on 14th May 2024. The meeting was attended by Mr. Ahmed Varish, Board member of the Maldives National Chamber.
During the discussion, President of SLMLBC, emphasized the council’s role in improving trade between Sri Lanka and Maldives with a focus on a neutral, unbiased approach. He addressed the decline in imports from Sri Lanka to Maldives and highlighted the council’s efforts to identify and rectify issues.
During the meeting, it was discussed that the Maldives plans to implement a single-window platform to digitize all government services, with the goal of streamlining import and export activities. Further, it was agreed to exchange information on exhibitions, trade fairs, and new business regulations to enhance trade relations and leverage new technologies for market expansion.
